Tenerife is largest and most famous of the Canaria Islands. Here all the year is an incredible feast, between folklore, culture, religion and colors. From January to December celebrations take place for the great pleasure of the local population and the most numerous tourists who visit it every year.

● Between February and March you can assist to the spectacular Carnival of the Tenerife, most famous of the Canaria Island. Second in the world after the famous Brazilian Carnival. Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz transform themselves for two weeks in a location of fun and emotion.

● The month of May, the 3rd, the island celebrates the « Día de la Cruz » In particular at Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz, in honor of their foundation happened in XVI the century. Churches and crosses are adorned with spectacular floral compositions.

● Also here, like to Gran Canaria, is celebrated the festivity of Saint Juan at the locality of Puerto de la Cruz. The celebrations carry out in the night between the 22nd and the 23rd of June in a magical atmosphere in which ancient traditions of the local populationi live again. As the ancient tradition numerous cattles are brought to sea to get bath, in Playa Jardin, as it happened in remote times.

● Always in the month of June as well in Gran Canaria “Corpus Christi” is celebrated. Also the local population is striven here with fervor in the creation of artistic and spectacular carpets of flowers with religious topics and meticulously worked. In particular those of the Lagoon and of Orotava.

July is the month of the “Romería de Saint Benito Abad”, most important popular festivity of the locality de the Lagoon, in which is honored the patron of the harvests. The feast goes on the days with many folkloristic scenes, dances.

● Th 15th of the month of August at Tenerife is celebrated the “Virgen de la Candelaria”. With this recurrence and through procession and reconstructions the ancient ceremony carries on. The statue of the Virgin is brought to the seashore just like it was done in the in the XV the century.

● the following day, the 16 of August, the locality of Garachico is full of pilgrims and and tourist just to assist at the “ Romería de Saint Roque”. Besides being the Saint patron of the city, Saint Roque had the merit to save it from the calamity of the plague of 1601. In this day it comes therefore celebrated in the general euphoria of all coming citizens from every part of the island.

● From the 7th to the 15th of September the « Fiesta del Santísimo » is celebrated. Takes place a religious ceremony in the locality de La Laguna with parades, shows of song and popular music. Apex of the festivity is of magnificent fire works.

● Always in September takes place the celbration « Cristo de los Dolores ». The recurrence has place the first Sunday after 15 of September along with festivities of the grape harvest. Optimal occasion to appreciate typical wines.

● At the end of November, the 29th, there is the « Fiesta de los Cacharros ». This festivity sees protagonists the children of Puerto de la Cruz and Taganana who, following the tradition, amuse themselves running around the roads dragging noisy objects.

● In December the « Fiesta de la Consolación » the inhabitants of Masca honor of the strong traditions of the island. There are musical concerts from the decidedly folkloristic taste, with typical instruments.Many people wear characteristic dresses of the place.
