Tenerife - Museums Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a lively port city, very rich of fountains, colors and boutiques. Compared to the South of the Island, crowded and hectic, this is a little tourist town that unfortunately, from an artistic point of view, it doesn’t offer cultural opportunities. There is also a museum that is worth stopping to visit, near the Plaza España.
• Museum of Nature and of Man - This building was a hospital and then became a museum, in Calle Fuente Morales. Inside is minutely described the culture of the original inhabitants of these lands, the “guanchos” through skulls, mummies and various pottery. Part of the museum is dedicated to the beauties of the Island: its flora and its fauna.

• Museum of Fine Arts - This interesting museum, located in Calle José Murphy, puts together a large collection of paintings and sculptures of local Spanish and Flemish artists. The building regularly sees the exhibition of temporary art.

• Military Museum of Almeyda - In this museum, in Calle San Isidro, are put together all the military affairs of the Islands. Particular attention to the City of Santa Cruz and its means of defense. Here you’ll find the cannon “El Tigre” responsible of the mutilation of the arm of Nelson in the battle for the conquest of the Cty.

The North of Tenerife is always full of many tourist. Compared to the great resort of the South, tourism here is less chaotic but the region offers a wide range of sporting activities and interesting ideas for walks of culture.
• Archaeological Museum - This interesting museum is located in Puerto de la Cruz, Calle Lomo. Inside you can admire the reconstruction of an ancient residence and a cave decorated with funerary objects, reflecting the fact that already in the past, the indigenous people believed in life after death.

• Ceramics Museum - This museum is located in the town of La Orotava, Calle León. Here you can admire the largest collection of pottery clay in all of Spain, complete with pictures and explanations in several languages.

• Casa de los Balcones - This is a beautiful building of 1692 which is located in the town of La Orotava. The building is now a small museum of antique furniture and vintage objects.

The locality of La Laguna is not particularly fascinating. Its historic center, however, appears as a representation with beautiful colors, small streets and plots, eccentric buildings, craft shops ... a real jewel of art and culture.
• Museum of History of Tenerife - This museum was set up in the House Lecarno, on Calle San Agustín. There is no doubt that the building in itself merits a visit, thanks to the meticulous work of the porch and the walls. Inside, the collection consists of maps, descriptions and various objects is equally interesting.
(entrance costs goes from € 1.80 to € 3.00, depending on ones age, Tuesday-Sunday from 10 to 20)
• Casas - At La Calle San Augustín there are several Casas of great interest. Among these you’ll find Casa del Montañés, Casa Salazar, house of the Bishop of La Laguna, and Casa de los Capitanes, where you will find the tourist office.
• Museum of Science and Planetarium - This is an excellent opportunity to spend a few hours of relax and fun. The building has a cosmic aspect and proposes several interactive experiments that make you learn and appreciate science. Here you’ll find a beautiful planetarium from where you can admire the firmament at any time of the day.

The villages of El Sauzal and Tacoronte are in the most important wine region of the Island of Tenerife. The places are beautiful and characteristic so its worth to get some time and walk around to discover hidden corners with breathtaking views (which we do not lack). During the walk you can stop in one of the two Museums in the area.
• Museum of Anthropology of Tenerife - This museum is located in the town of Tacoronte, not far from La Laguna, it is entirely dedicated to the preservation and propagation of popular culture of the Island of Tenerife. The Museum is set in the Charter House, a modest building of the eighteenth century. The museum combines past and present and every year are organized various culture exposures.

• Casa del Vino la Baranda - near El Sauzal you can stop to visit this interesting museum. A simple and normal house immersed in the splendid nature that explains the different process of wine making. In an nearby structure, you can also taste a variety of local wines. From here the view of the Teide is surprising and during summer time you can assist to music live concerts.

The East Region of the Tenerife Island is an area not still touched by mass tourism, where local culture and traditions have remained almost unchanged. Nevertheless the area is not particularly rich of sites of historical or artistic importance : it is mainly visited by water sports addicted who find it the perfect place to sport with a climate that differs from the chaos of the big resort.
• Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria - This is the real attraction of the town of Candelaria. It 's a beautiful church built in honor of the Patron Saint of the archipelago of the Canaries in the mid 50’s. The basilica is located practically on the sea and in its surroundings you find statues of warriors that seem to want to defend the Island. In mid-August is celebrated the feast of the Virgin de la Candelaria, the city lives a frenetic moment and many people come to visit it.
• Hermitage de la Virgen de los Dolores - This charming chapel unfortunately closed to the public is located on a hill near the town of Güimar. From here the view of the landscape is really spectacular. Its worth a stop to admire its beauty.
