Gran Canaria - Markets
In Gran Canaria there are numerous markets where you can find really nice souvenirs as well as unusual objects. The podium is without doubt held by the craft: with its accessories of rattan, leather or ceramics, or food products. The local craft production is really various and of high quality.
• Mercadillo de Gáldar
This is the market of the town of Gáldar, and is located in Calle Capitán Quesada, 29. The entrance gates are still the original ones from the early '900, and inside you can admire a work of Diego Higuera dedicated to the painter Antonio Padrón. The market has many biologic foods.
Opening: Thursday 8.00 am to 2.00 pm
• Mercadillo Artístico Artesanal
This is a nice flea market near the bus station of Global (in the parking lot of Las Palomas). You’ll find many items as well as beautiful glass products of local craftsmen. It will be impossible to leave without a souvenir!
• Mercadillo de Vegueta
This flea market in Plaza del Pilar Nuevo, in the town of Vegueta, offers visitors a wide variety of items of the best local handicrafts and makes you go back to the past and learn more of the Canary Islands culture.
Open: Sundays (except during July, August and September)
• Mercadillo Municipal de Playa de Mogán
This is one of the nicest markets in the south region of the Island of Gran Canaria. In addition to the products of the best local handicrafts offered, you can enjoy a real pleasant atmosphere. The market is located near Mogán the sport harbor, which makes your walk much more enjoyable.
Opening: Friday 8.00 am to 2.00 pm
• Mercadillo de Playa del Inglés
This is a typical market where you can find all kinds of things: from the most common items for the sea to typical local products. Playa del Ingles is one of the most important touristic places of the Island and the market meets the needs of many visitors.
Open: every day of the week except Sunday, 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm
• Mercadillo de San Fernando
This attractive town market is located in San Fernando de Maspalomas. You can really find everything from ornaments to clothing used for the sea, passing through pretty and cute souvenirs. Scattered here and there in the marketplace are also kiosks with flowers and typical gastronomy goods of the Canarian tradition.
Open: Wednesday and Saturday from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm
• Mercadillo second-hand cars, motorbikes and rastro.
This is a market where you can trade goods and bargain prices: everything is on sale. You can purchase or exchange ... you can find many second-hand items, including motorcycles and cars.
Open: Sunday 9.00 am to 3.00 pm
• Mercadillo de San Mateo (Vega de San Mateo)
This is one of the most outstanding markets of the Island, situated in the center of San Mateo. It is an outdoor market where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables and tasty local products.
Opening: Saturday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm and Sunday 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm
• Mercadillo de Teror
This market is situated near the beautiful Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pino, and is the largest of the Island as long as being the most traditional and characteristic market. It offers a range of very different objects: from fine craftsmanship to delicious culinary delights of Gran Canaria.

• Mercadillo de Vecindario
This is a market dedicated to agriculture where you can find excellent seasonal products (fruits and vegetables) and delicious local cuisine specialties.
Open: Monday 8.00 am to 2.oo pm
• Mercadillo del Collezionista (Gáldar)
This is the best place for collectors. It is located in Calle Guaires, 26. Here they meet many people, especially collectors, where they exchanges ideas, impressions and also rare objects. A nice and important place of the Gran Canaria Island.
