Sioux City in Gran Canaria |

Sioux City - Gran Canaria
(Cañón del Aguila - San Agustín - every day except Monday, 10.00 am to 5.00 pm)
Built in 1972, this mini-city in a far west style is one of the most interesting to visit on the Island of Gran Canaria. Once there you’ll feel to be in a real western city.
In fact, it has been rebuilt exactly like the original locations of the cowboy towns that fascinated everyone in the 70s’. Here have been shot some of the most famous western movies of all time: “Fistful of Dollars” and “For a few dollars more”.
Walking through Sioux City, where nature is full of cactus and rocks you’ll meet characteristic places of the American West: a saloon with can-can girls, and sheriff, barbecue areas, an Indian reserve, a bank, a church, a ranch, several homes with typical western furniture all accompanied with a good dose of country music!
And in these locations you can sees scenes that are always seen in films or TV: robberies by gangsters, duels between cowboys, propitiatory dances of the Indian populations and also the exhilarating saloons. These are only some of the things you can see.
So the best thing to do is to try this different and new experience... you’ll not regret it!

Palmitos Park in Gran Canaria |

Palmitos Park - Gran Canaria
(Barranco Los Palmitos - Maspalomas - San Bartolomé de Tirajana)
The Palmitos Park is without doubt one of the most popular attraction of Gran Canaria. Located south of the Island, in the summer of 2007 this beautiful nature park has suffered a big fire which caused its partial destruction: almost the 60% of its vegetation has been lost and many animals died or reduced in poor conditions. It was very difficult to restore its original aspect and the result is now more than satisfactory.
The park is again a pure moment of exoticism and a wonderful place where to spend a day surrounded by nature: extraordinary plants and animals.
Very important are the birds: there are tropical birds such as parrots (stars of shows organized to entertain the public), or raptors such as eagles (of which one can admire the spectacular acrobatic flights), the reserve includes many other different species.
You can also admire colorful tropical fish as well as, reptiles, monkeys and kangaroos. It will be a real pleasure to go around the park and especially for the children it will be an unforgettable experience!
The flora of the park is absolutely worth of note: among all the plants certainly deserves a mention the date palm, locally called Drago, a typical tree of the Canary lands.
The ticket is a bit expensive but worth it.
